New Ladies 1st XI Captain - Lauren Klugkist

I was born and bred in Pretoria in sunny South Africa and have been living in the not-so-sunny UK for the last seven years, of which four seasons were spent playing for Wimbledon Hockey Club (the best club in London in my view).

Taking over the captaincy from Sam this season is going to be a challenge as I have some big shoes to fill! But, life would be rather dull if we weren't constantly taking up new challenges and whilst there have been a few changes in the club, I am extremely excited about the season ahead. We have a new coach, Ignasi, joining us from Spain, He will also be playing for our Men's 1s and he will undoubtedly whip us into shape and bring with him invaluable hockey knowledge, fresh insights and new ideas.

I'm sure that the combination of a new coach and a group of dedicated and committed players will ensure that we are constantly improving and successful throughout the season. As always I am looking forward to some great hockey, catching up with friends both on and off the pitch and building new friendships.

New Ladies 1st Team Coach

Wimbledon Ladies Hockey Club are very excited to announce that they will have a new 1st team coach for the coming season. Ignasi Pallares Gutierrez is a 27 year old defender from one of Spain’s top clubs, Atletic Terrasa.

He has already been doing his homework on the Ladies 1s results last season and has said that his desire and dreams give him the strength and determination to succeed. Initial discussions with Ignasi about his ideas on training suggest that he has every intention of continuing the hard work on fitness that was started last season. Watch this space for more news on Ignasi and the forthcoming season.

A Word from the Ladies Club President

Annie Breslin

I have been a member of Wimbledon Ladies Hockey Club for 18 years.  I have captained a number of teams and also been involved with coaching the Junior section for 7 years.  The Ladies section prides itself on being a club that plays great hockey, has an excellent club spirit and also provides some good social events, and I am delighted to represent the club as President.

The future of the Ladies section depends on us welcoming new players, getting in good coaches, getting the right people to lead and support the teams and nurturing junior talent.  These are the principles upon which the club has been based and have endured for the 18 years that I have been a member.  These principles remain the foundation of our club and I hope will be continued during my Presidency of the Ladies section.

I look forward to playing my part in the future of the Club.
